The new CFR Engines Inc. Training Academy, located at the CFR Corporate Factory in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, is now open. The state-of-the-art Training Center is equipped with two fully functional engines (Octane and Cetane) for operational training, as well as a wide array of tools and components for maintenance training.
All courses will be instructed by Flavio Miranda, Technical Training Manager. Flavio has over 12 years of experience as an instructor - specializing in engine operation, troubleshooting and diagnostics. He has developed high quality and engaging multi-media coursework to assist CFR End Users gain additional product knowledge on CFR genuine parts and products.
This new training space is part of an initiative to provide our customers with the best learning opportunities and resources to advance their skills and knowledge.

** Back-to-back course starts on Tuesday, September 23 and goes until Friday. The class resumes on Monday, September 29 the following week and ends on Thursday. The cost is $3,900 for the two courses September 23 - October 2.
This course is designed for CFR personnel who need further knowledge of, and experience with, replacing the CFR Octane Rating Unit cylinder, clamping sleeve, and carburetor.
Prerequisite: Students taking this class should already have taken XCP/OA Operations beginners course or should have some knowledge of the operation of the CFR Octane Rating Unit according to the most current ASTM Methods D2699 and D2700.
This course is designed for the more experienced CFR maintenance personnel, who need additional knowledge and understanding of cylinder components and do their own maintenance in house.
Prerequisite: Students taking this course should have a good mechanical background and have taken the Octane maintenance course and have 3 plus years maintenance and engine operating experience. The knowledge of using micrometers and precision measuring equipment is a must for this course.
This course is designed for more experienced CFR product maintenance personnel, who need additional knowledge and understanding of the requirements for completing the overhauling of a CFR-48 crankcase.
Prerequisite: Students taking this course should have a good mechanical background and have taken the Octane Maintenance course and have 3 plus years maintenance and engine mechanical and operating experience.
This course is designed for CFR personnel who need knowledge and experience concerning the top-end overhaul.
Prerequisite: Student taking this course should already have XCP or Legacy Operation knowledge or should have some knowledge of the operation of the F5 Cetane Diesel Rating Unit according to the most current ASTM Method D613.
This course is designed for lab personnel who need knowledge of the basic function and operation of the CFR Octane Rating Units that utilize the new XCP and Octane Analyzer (OA) panel technology and a better understanding of the ASTM Research and Motor test methods. We will also go through basic maintenance and the importance of maintenance.
Courses are held Monday-Thursday from 9:00am - 3:00pm. The student’s travel plans should be arranged to accommodate this schedule.
Lunch and refreshments are included in the cost of the course.
As an alternative, CFR can also provide quotes for on-site training courses. This may be a viable option for organizations based on availability and facility needs.
Extensive hands-on experience will be provided to all students in each course. Students are encouraged to actively participate in the course and ask questions to promote a better understanding of the material.
Students must bring their own paper and writing utensils for taking notes.
All students will earn “Attended” status certificate upon completing the course.
NOTE: “Attended” certification does not provide individuals factory authorization to perform maintenance, warranty, or service outside of their immediate company or allow representation of CFR Engines Inc. in anyway. “Factory Certification” can only be obtained through a CFR distributorship with CFR Engines Inc. CFR distributors are the only factory authorized entities to provide Genuine CFR service, maintenance, and warranty.
All students are required to wear safety glasses with side shields and safety shoes during hands-on training. We encourage them to bring their own personal safety equipment for comfort and convenience. Shorts, sandals, and open toe footwear will NOT be permitted. Appropriate casual attire is required. NOMEX and/or fire retardant clothing is NOT required.
All registration for 2025 CFR End User Training should be conducted through your local CFR Engines Inc. authorized distributor. If you are unsure of your distributor, you can confirm on our CFR Distributors page. If CFR is your distributor, you can register on our CFR Training Registration page.
A purchase order is required. A copy of the attendee's driver's license or passport is required. Registration is not confirmed until the attendee is screened through restricted party lists and the course has been paid for.
New for 2025, payment is required at the time of registration. The fee for each course is $1,950.00 per student. There may be an additional administrative fee by the supporting distributor. The course fee covers (4) days of instruction, all supplemental training materials (received on a USB drive), lunch, and refreshments daily. The course fee does not cover travel, hotel or additional meals.
Reservations must be cancelled, in writing, at least 60 days prior to start date of the course session. If cancelled prior to 60 days before the start of the course, your money will be held on account for a future course or parts order. If reservations are cancelled less than 60 days prior to the start of a course, your money is forfeited.
A minimum of five (5) students will be required to hold a course. CFR may make exceptions to either hold the course or move enrollment to the next available course or cancel the course. Decisions on cancellation due to lack of attendance will be made 30 days prior to the start of the course. Upon notification of cancellation, students will have the choice of withdrawing from the course for a full refund or be rescheduled to the next available course. Please note, if the student moves to the next course, no refund will be issued if the student decides to cancel the new reservation.
CFR suggests all attendees purchase refundable airline tickets in case the course is cancelled.
All students must make their own hotel reservations. It is the student’s responsibility to provide their own transportation to and from CFR, the hotel and the airport. A list of discounted hotels will be provided to student upon reserving their space in the course.
