Whether it is withstanding the resource challenges of today’s business environment or the continuous demands of today’s fuel testing, CFR Engines Inc. (CFR®) XCP® TECHNOLOGY (XCP) has the capabilities to meet the needs of your business. The CFR XCP system provides automation, flexibility, and ease of use of computer-guided operation, the measurement accuracy of digital instrumentation, and the traceability and ease of reporting from a reliable database.

The standard XCP package allows for the capability to run procedures A, B, and C for the current ASTM Methods D2699 (RON) and D2700 (MON). Octane Analyzer (OA), the CFR automated testing solution, provides the expanded benefit of being able to run Procedure D (Bracketing OA) for faster test results and better utilization of lab resources with the added benefit to evaluating a broader Octane Number range than procedure B: 72-103.5 MON and 72-108 RON. While the XCP supports the ASTM methods, it also incorporates single pass, 2 pass, or 2+1 pass functionality to support testing that is most efficient for your business operations.

ISO 17025 specifies the general requirements for the competence, impartiality, and consistent operation of laboratories. XCP supports ISO 17025 by providing calibration certificates for every sensor within the panel and storage retrieval of key calibration data. Calibrations of mixture manifold temperatures are guided and stored for reference in Microsoft Excel format. RTD programmability allows for calibration of the mixture manifold temperature, intake temperature, condenser temperature, and oil temperature. All parameters are saved in the operating system allowing for trackability and traceability.

To support laboratory compliance, all environmental, procedural data and key performance indicators are monitored and stored in a central database during the procedure. Data such as temperatures, pressures, humidity, max Knock Intensity (KI’s), and ON’s, are all stored with date and time stamps, pass to pass. The database can be queried for historical information to ensure repeatability and reproducibility fall within ASTM standards. Reports are generated in Microsoft Excel and archived in a practical file structure for easy retrieval or sent to LIMS. XCP systems also record maintenance event history including oil change intervals, cylinder rebuilds, and carbon blasting dates that can be entered and stored for later review.

While CFR technology has satisfied global testing specifications since 1928, product enhancements support functionality beyond the standard test methods that provide automation, flexibility, and reporting capabilities to meet today’s compliance requirements, operational needs, and business practices.
